Equal Opportunities Service

The mission of the Equal Opportunities Service is to make sure that gender and related equal opportunity issues are endorsed at Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). The Service pursues this mission through projects and awareness campaigns.  To this end, it organises meetings, seminars, and events to inform and alert the academic community to women's subjects. Additionally, it is committed to:

• achieving a fairer presence of women and men at all levels, especially at the tenured-professor rank;
• obtaining work and study conditions that are more compatible with the demands of family life;
• stimulating academic career paths for women;
• ensuring that the gender dimension and the culture of diversity are integrated into teaching and research

Some of these activities are coordinated jointly with the Gender Service at SUPSI, with due regard for the individual character of each institution. Collaboration between the two offices is clearly defined in a strategy agreed by the USI-SUPSI Gender Commission.

A detailed calendar of events is published online, and may also be obtained from the office of the Service. All publications, surveys, or statistics in the equal opportunity area are also available.
