The advent of the internet has brought to the foreground new legal questions and has accrued the importance of problems that used to be considered as marginal. The course illustrates typical problems, like the management of domain names, the security of networks, and the civil and penal responsibilities of intermediaries. Specific attention is devoted to cybercrime, privacy and copyright. The different topics of the course are dealt with at both conceptual and practical levels (through case studies). They will be considered from the points of view of Swiss and European law and, where relevant, of American law.
