Public services share the social value of their access and the inherent complexity of their delivery models, raising several challenges for management. The course analyzes and deals with the main managerial aspects the healthcare sector and important network industries (e.g., local transport, energy). After a brief international overview of each sector, the course covers both traditional issues of managing public services (e.g. organization design, performance and quality management) and cutting-edge topics (e.g. e-health, e-government, networks), which are high on the policy agenda.
