L. Suzanne Suggs, Ph.D., CHES: Assistant Professor, Institute for Public Communication (ICP), Faculty of Communication Sciences, University of Lugano.
Professor Suggs´ principal research focuses on health behavior and social change, using communication technologies, new media, and messaging strategies (tailoring and targeting)
Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Lugano in August 2007, she was Assistant Professor in the Graduate Program in Health Communication, Department of Marketing Communication at Emerson College and Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Public Health and Family Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. She has held positions as Research Assistant and Project Coordinator at the Oregon Center for Applied Science (Eugene, Oregon) and as Associate Director of Research at HealthMedia (Ann Arbor, Michigan). She earned her PhD in Health Studies from Texas Woman´s University and a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Evidence-Based Practice Centre, at McMaster University in Ontario Canada.
She serves on the founding organizing board for the European Social Marketing Association and International Social Marketing Association, reviews for several leading health communication, health promotion, and health behavior journals, and is on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Health Communication.
È Professore assistente di Social Marketing all´Istituto di Comunicazione Publico (ICP). I suoi interessi di ricerca vertono principalmente sull´uso delle tecnologie della comunicazione, sui nuovi media e sulle strategie informative (tailoring e targeting) per migliorare lo stato di salute e facilitare il cambiamento sociale e comportamentale. Nel suo percorso accademico e professionale si è interessata di marketing e di educazione/promozione della salute. Ha ottenuto il dottorato in Health Studies presso la Texas Woman´s University (USA) e ha vinto una posizione post-dottorale presso il Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Evidence-Based Practice Centre, alla McMaster University (Canada). Prima di integrare la Facoltà di scienze della comunicazione nell´agosto 2007, è stata Professore Assistente presso il Graduate Program in Health Communication, Department of Marketing Communication dell¿Emerson College, e Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor presso il Department of Public Health and Family Medicine della Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. Insegna presso la Swiss School of Public Healthplus (SSPH+). È membro del comitato organizzativo della scuola estiva in Public Health Policy, Economics and Management della SSPH (+) e di quello del Global Social Marketing Association. Oltre a svolgere il ruolo di reviewer per molte riviste accademiche, fa parte del comitato di redazione del Journal of Health Communication.
