A film produced by a USI researcher among the nominees for the 2026 European Film Awards

With Hasan in Gaza, a documentary produced by Flavia Mazzarino, a doctoral researcher at the Institute of Media and Journalism (IMeG) of USI Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society, and directed by Kamal Aljafari, has been nominated for the 2026 European Film Awards in the categories of Best European Film and Best Documentary.

This is a prestigious recognition from Europe's leading film institution, which celebrates works that stand out for their artistic quality, cultural impact and social relevance.

The documentary premiered worldwide in the International Competition at the Locarno Film Festival.

Flavia is pursuing her doctorate under the supervision of Kevin B. Lee, Locarno Film Festival Professor for the Future of Cinema, and contributes to USI initiatives at the Locarno Film Festival, including the Future of Cinema conference and the REAL Academy.

The film significantly contributes to Flavia Mazzarino's research and aligns with USI's tradition of supporting projects that merge creativity, social responsibility, and critical reflection on contemporary media.
