On Thursday, 6 February 2025, from 4:30 pm to 6 pm in the West Campus Lugano Auditorium, Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) will host the public encounter "ChatGPT and research evaluation". As part of the event, Kayvan Kousha, researcher at the University of Wolverhampton, will give a keynote talk on the role of GenAI in the evaluation of the social impact of research, moderated by Pro-rector and Professor Luca Maria Gambardella.

The meeting, organised by USI Professor Benedetto Lepori, will take place within the academic workshop "The Use of Generative AI for Science and Higher Education Studies (AISci)". The central theme will be the application of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) as ChatGPT in the context of research evaluation and its impact on society.

The keynote talk, titled "Evaluating societal impact of research with ChatGPT", will be given by Kayvan Kousha, a researcher at the University of Wolverhampton and a leading figure in the study of GenAI applied to science. The event will be moderated by Luca Maria Gambardella, Pro-rector for Innovation and Corporate Relations at USI, as well as professor of artificial intelligence at the Faculty of Informatics and member of the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA USI-SUPSI).
