In a time marked by increasing social division, digital overwhelm, and rising tensions in public discourse, the Faculty of Communication, Culture & Society at USI invites you to a profound cultural evening delving into the timeless wisdom of Sri Lanka.
In an open and inspiring dialogue, Venerable Bhante Sujatha, the internationally renowned “Loving Kindness Monk”, and Prof. Annegret Hannawa of the Faculty of Communication, Culture & Society – also Director of the Center for the Advancement of Quality and Safety in Healthcare – will explore the value of mindful communication in an increasingly polarized world. Together, they will show how mindfulness in dealing with our emotions and our language not only strengthens personal well-being, but also promotes social cohesion and supports mental resilience. Drawing on Buddhist traditions and current challenges, this dialogue invites participants to reflect on peaceful coexistence, emotional awareness, and the power of loving-kindness.
Following the discussion, all attendees are warmly invited to a an apéro reception, offering space for encounters, reflection, and intercultural exchange – designed to be open, inclusive, and welcoming to all.
Goals and Themes:

- Mental health & resilience – Drawing strength from the Buddhist wisdom of the “Loving Kindness Monk” to find stability in a hectic, digitally driven world.
- Social resilience through mindful communication – Contributing to peaceful coexistence and greater social harmony.
