Costanza Lucchini, PhD student at the Institute of Argumentation, Linguistics and Semiotics (IALS) at Università della Svizzera italiana, was awarded the prestigious Frans van Eemeren Prize for Outstanding Student Paper for her contribution to the fifth edition of the European Conference on Argumentation (ECA), held from 23 to 26 September at the Warsaw University of Technology (Poland).

The award, promoted by the European Conference on Argumentation and sponsored by Springer, recognises the best scientific contributions presented by young researchers in the field of argumentation. Costanza Lucchini's paper "Extending the Notion of Argumentative Patterns" was selected by an international jury composed of six leading scholars in the field.

The Frans van Eemeren Prize is awarded at each conference to promote the most innovative research conducted by students and doctoral candidates. The prize includes a cash reward and a book voucher offered by Springer, as well as the opportunity to publish the award-winning article in the scientific journal Argumentation, subject to peer review.

The European Conference on Argumentation is one of the premier international events in the field of argumentation studies. It brings together researchers from universities and institutions worldwide to discuss the latest theoretical and methodological advancements in the field.
