Prof. Marco Maggi appointed Chair of an ESCL research group

Marco Maggi, Full Professor of Comparative Literature and Literary Theory at USI Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society, has recently been appointed Chair of the Research Group "Comparing Literatures, Arts, and Media" within the European Society of Comparative Literature (ESCL).
Founded in 2003, ESCL has over 800 members and serves as a European forum for dialogue on cultures, literatures, and literary studies. The Society promotes the prestigious journal "Complit: Journal of European Literature, Arts and Society" (Garnier) and two book series, and organises international conferences every two years.
The Research Group "Comparing Literatures, Arts, and Media" aims to apply and develop methods of comparison in the field of relations among literature, the arts, and media, one of the most innovative and fruitful areas of the humanities today. The Research Group comprises eight scholars affiliated with universities in five countries (Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden).
The theme of the Research Group's work, led by Prof. Maggi, for the next two years is Expanded Ecologies. Literary Intermediality and/in Multispecies Relationships, at the crossroads between comparative literature and intermedial ecocriticism studies.
This appointment recognises the potential for innovation and the aggregation of research in the humanities at USI in the fields of literature, the arts, and media.
