Prof. Piero Boitani awarded with the Balzan Prize 2016

Piero Boitani, Full Professor of comparative literature at Sapienza University and Lecturer and co-founder of the USI Institute of Italian Studies (together with Prof. Carlo Ossola and Prof. Corrado Bologna) was awarded the Balzan Prize 2016 on September 12th in comparative literature.

Mention: “For his extraordinary ability to represent world literature as a living dialogue with ancient classics, the Middle Ages, and the Modern Age. For his innovative studies on the history of fortune and perception of the myths and fundamental themes of Western Civilisation. For his psychological method that exposes the potential of canonical texts, projecting it into the future”.
