The inauguration ceremony of the Dionisotti Fund will be held on Tuesday, October 31st. The prestigious collection of volumes that once belonged to the great literary critic Carlo Dionisotti, is conserved at the Lugano University Library.

«It is indeed true that my thoughts and affections are deeply rooted in Ticino, between Lugano, Locarno and Bellinzona, to the extent that, in comparison, the only thing prevailing is Romagnano». It is Carlo Dionisotti himself, who speaks in the epistolary exchange with Giovanni Pozzi about his bond with Ticino, among loved ones and scientific commitment. For this reason, the family of the renowned scholar has decided to entrust to Lugano and the Università della Svizzera italiana his library and his book collection, in which some editions date back to the 16th Century.

The Fund will be inaugurated on Tuesday, October 31, from 4:30pm to 7:30pm in the aula magna on Lugano campus, with an exhibition of the bibliography and keynotes by Professors Carlotta DionisottiMaria Antonietta Terzoli and Carlo Ossola, introduced by USI Rector Boas Erez, the Library Director Davide Dosi, RSI Head of cultural current events Maria Grazia Rabiolo, and USI doctoral student and Library staff member Chiara Cauzzi.

The event wants to celebrate the generosity of an important gesture that will help consolidate Italian Studies in the Italian-speaking Swiss Canton.
