Distinguished appointment in China for Prof. Richeri

USI Professor Emeritus Giuseppe Richeri has recently been appointed Member of the International Academic Committee of the School of Journalism and Communication at Shanghai University. The Committee is a small cohort of selected academics from Asia, Europe and North America, whose function is to advise the University, one of the most important in China, on its strategies at the international level.

Prof. Richeri, former Dean of the USI Faculty of Communication Sciences in 2004-2006 and 2006-2008, has dedicated his career to the study of the history and theory of Communication, to the analysis of media politics and economics, as well as to the in-depth study of new media strategies and markets. At USI, he created the Institute for Media and Journalism and the China Media Observatory (CMO). In this context, he has collaborated with renowned Chinese universities including the Communication University of China in Beijing (where he is a PhD supervisor) and the Fudan University in Shanghai.

Together with the current director of the CMO, Prof. Gabriele Balbi of USI, and Prof. Fei Jiang of Beijing Foreign Studies University, he authored the upcoming book "Remapping and Remapped. China and the Global Media Landscape", published by Cambridge Scholar Publishing.
