Every year, during the Dies academicus of USI, the Credit Suisse Award for Best Teaching is won by a faculty member of USI, in recognition of their teaching activities. This year, the award was conferred to L. Suzanne Suggs, Professor of Social Marketing at the USI Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society.

In her speech given at the XXIV Dies, Prof. Suggs, thanking Credit Suisse and especially the students who attended her lectures, underlined how "each semester here at USI is full of incredible exchanges and experiences, from both local students and those who come from across the world. In my classes, we always start by examining the evidence and the theory, and then we examine that in the context of real-world problems. It is often here, in the experiential part of the course, where students are really able to grasp the theory and demonstrate their new knowledge. Education is a tool that enables people to understand better the world they live in, to think more critically, engage in evidence-informed decision-making, and to build a better future. As such, the importance of higher education has never been more important than it is in this moment in time".

The Credit Suisse Award for Best Teaching was established in 2006 to mark the 150th anniversary of the bank's founding. As Gabriela Cotti Musio, Head of Communication Ticino Region at Credit Suisse, explains, "with this award we wish to celebrate in universities and vocational schools in Switzerland those professors who stand out for their excellent, creative, efficient and effective teaching".
