#USI25 - The recording of the first USI Townhall is available online
Institutional Communication Service
26 February 2021
The first USI Townhall was held on Wednesday, 24 February. The interactive meetings aimed at USI community are promoted by the Pro-Rector Sonja Hildebrand with the purpose of keeping our University as close and personal as possible.
In the cover image word cloud are shown the terms most used by the students who participated in the online event to describe their distance learning experience: an experience that they defined as useful and interesting, but also tiring and lonely. Indeed, as the online survey conducted during the event showed, the vast majority of enrolled students want to return to in-person classes as soon as the health situation allows. Also evaluated in real-time were the various online learning activities, the tools available, the outlook for the future, and the promptness of communication about COVID-19 provisions.
On behalf of the USI student body, the representative Diana Santos intervened. Still, several questions were posed directly by students from home, which the speakers answered: the Rector Boas Erez, the Pro-Rector for Research in the Humanities and Equal Opportunities Sonja Hildebrand, and the Pro-Rector for Education and Students' experience Lorenzo Cantoni.
Afterwards, the directors of some of the university services addressed a number of issues involving students. From Arianna Imberti Dosi of the International Relations and Mobility Service, we found out that student mobility has not stopped as we might have feared in times of Pandemic. From Silvia Invrea of the Career Service, we received the numbers of job and internship offers of the last year, which have held up very well. From Giorgio Piffaretti of the Sports Service, online from the new East Campus Square, we learned about all the latest offers to keep us in shape even in this semi-lockdown period. Finally, for those who may be struggling the most, Gloria Dagnino from the Equal Opportunity Service presented the new "USI in ascolto" (USI is listening) service.
According to USI Rector Boas Erez, "The Townhall was a moment of dialogue, openness and exchange that USI intends to repeat in the future. It is instrumental at this time to continue to be a community despite the difficulties imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic".
The recording of the Townhall is available below to those who were not able to watch it live.
