Everybody knows what makes their city unique. Much less is known, however, about how these perceptions of cities’ uniqueness form. The paper accepted for publications in Urban Studies “Iconic buildings in the making of city identity: The role of aspirational identity artefacts“ by Zamparini, Gualtieri, and Lurati investigates this topic, analysing how the construction of the PalaCinema in Locarno shapes the identity of the city.
