Università della Svizzera italiana participated in the Annual General Assembly of the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences (SAGW-ASSH), held on 5 June 2026 at the University of Basel, where professors and researchers from the university secured important appointments and accolades.
During the Assembly, Daniela Mondini, Professor at the Institute for the History and Theory of Art and Architecture (ISA), was elected as a member ad personam of the SAGW-ASSH committee. She succeeds Professor Sara Garau of the Institute of Italian Studies (ISI), who is stepping down from the committee after three terms. This election ensures that USI will maintain its presence on the central committee of the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences in the coming years.
Also attending the Assembly was Katharina Lobinger, Professor at the Institute of Digital Technologies for Communication (ITDxC), in her capacity as President of the Swiss Association of Communication and Media Research.
On the occasion of the same Assembly, Will Davis, an SNSF Ambizione researcher at USI Academy of Architecture, affiliated with ISA and ISUP, received second prize in the SAGW Early Career Award—a prestigious accolade aimed at young researchers in the humanities and social sciences. The award was presented following a selection process involving over one hundred applications.
The appointments and the award achieved confirm USI's contribution to research and to the life of leading Swiss academic institutions, as well as the high quality of the work carried out by its professors and researchers in the humanities and social sciences.
