FAQ on the Faculty name change

The Parliament of the Cantone Ticino (Grand Council) has approved during its plenary session on Monday, 9 December 2019, a law amendment which brought about a change in the name of the Faculty: from "Faculty of Communication Sciences" the name has become "Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society". It was USI that proposed the new name, which best responds to the current challenges of society, highlighting the strengths developed over the years by the Faculty, and which is more in line with its current educational offer. Here below are the FAQs on this change..

Does the change have an impact on the degree I will receive or have already received?

No, the name of the Faculty that confers the degrees changes but the degrees remain the same.

From when will the change be effective?

According to the normal procedure for a law amendment, the publication in the Official Bulletin will occur at the end of the referendum entitlement period of 60 days. The amendment will then become effective once it is published in the Official Bulletin.

Official USI documents, including diplomas, statutes, headed papers, models, positioning texts, etc., as well as the USI website will be updated by the 14th of September 2020 (beginning of the next academic year). Some print products may remain in circulation (for example business cards), until stocks are exhausted. All print products will, from now on, adopt the new denomination.

Does the change have a retroactive effect?
