Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society

The Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society is the Faculty of USI dedicated to humanities and social sciences. It offers education and research programmes that focus on the interaction between communication, culture and society.

Today, digital technologies and global communication networks, the intersection of different cultures, languages and religion, as well as the ways culture is shaped and conveyed, raise major challenges in our economy, politics and society. The Faculty addresses these challenges with interdisciplinarity, by combining humanities and social sciences, in close dialogue with economics and research on digital technologies.

The Faculty offers two Bachelor's curricula: the Bachelor in Communication and the Bachelor in Lingua, letteratura e civiltà italiana. The Faculty’s Master's degree curricula provide a platform that focuses on media management, business communication, marketing, communication within economic and specific social contexts such as health, fashion, and financial activities. In field of humanities, the Faculty offers two Mster's programmes: in Lingua, letteratura e civiltà italiana and in Philosophy. The Faculty is home to two Doctoral Schools in Lingua, letteratura e civiltà italiana and in Communication Sciences.

“Navigating the contemporary and following through towards the future requires interdisciplinary curiosity, broad and widespread skills, willingness and the ability to reason collectively. Multilingualism, historical perspective and prospective reading, humanism and social sciences are at the heart of the Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society. Our ambition - as a community of researchers, lecturers, students and citizens - is to contribute to making our society more inclusive, fair and responsive. But also more agile in offering concrete answers in the field of multimodal and multimedia communication processes, corporate and public communication, marketing and digital technologies for communication. The variety of skills and perspectives that our Faculty brings together is rare in the global context, allowing those who interact with us to find a highly personalised space to be listened to and to collaborate."
