LEGO & ARGUMENTATION

Istituto di argomentazione, linguistica e semiotica

Data d'inizio: 16 Ottobre 2015

Data di fine: 17 Ottobre 2015

Students of the class "Argumentation in Public Communication" held by Prof. Sara Greco, also joined by some PhD candidates and other USI students, have been the protagonists of an experimental lesson concerning a case of pragmatic argumentation.

Participants have been involved in a Lego Serious Play session, facilitated by Dr. Stefano Tardini, executive director of the eLab (www.elearninglab.org), in which they took part in an exercise and constructed arguments pro and against the establishment of a "multilingual week" to celebrate and promote Swiss multilingualism. The proposed arguments had to be represented - literally, "built" - using the Lego Serious Play methodology. In this way, the use of a material support (building blocks) was intended to enhance inventio, i.e. the activity of finding out arguments while critically evaluating them through group discussion. This represents an innovative application of the Lego Serious Play methodology to the field of argumentation learning.

Participants found this first experiment interesting and helpful, which invites to explore more into this innovation. Another "LEGO & argumentation" seminar will be held during the next semester at the Institute of Argumentation, Linguistics and Semiotics. THANK YOU TO ALL THE PARTICIPANTS!!!
